UNITY
A special exhibit celebrating our 4th Anniversary!
These artworks are for sale at the gallery.
Video Tribute
Now in its fourth year of operation, ArtForms Gallery continues to successfully maintain a steady membership of around 20 participating artists.
Every year, member artists participate in an annual anniversary exhibit. “Unity” was the theme of this year’s artist challenge. We each had our own ideas about what unity means to us, as you will see in the variations in our work.
Enjoy the exhibit virtually now, and then come see the work at the Gallery this month when you get a chance!

A Movement Towards Unity
by Kyle Carr
Vivid Metal Print
$80
"This 11X14 captures a small part of a larger picture, two young men broke away from a large marching crowd, and climbed their way on top of a 2 story building and lifted their fists in the air to salute the movement of people from all over Kansas City to speak out against injustices and demand change in not just the united states, but for similar issues within Kansas City. Art can reflect life, and life can be political, this movement that has swept the world showing a global sign of unity to demand equality and justice."

Humanity
by Kristin Girard
Amethyst, Moon Stone, Copper
$110
"The title of this work refers to the copper as it unites two very different stones. The stones, like individuals, can seem opposite from one another. One is smooth and light, made from softer material. The other is rough and dark, made from a very hard material. The stones are oriented in different directions, one horizontal and the other vertical. Yet both stones are beautiful and shiny and united by a copper band symbolizing our humanity."

Unity is Strength, Division is Weakness
by Sue Hiller Horner
Digital image created in Adobe Illustrator* transferred onto canvas and machine stitched; Title is a Swahili proverb
"The world is engulfed in Covid-19 in this year of 20twenty. Figures of all colors represent human differences, repeating the exact character connotes similarities. Some masked, some not. Pyramids were a symbol for unity in ancient Egypt. The close but not touching hands represent division."
$75

Unity with Variety
by Janet Lewis
Wood, alcohol inks, paste wax, and copper nails
NFS
"This piece is an homage to the artists of ArtForms Gallery, who have
been a very important connection for me these past four years. Though we
work in many different mediums, we are united in our purpose. I loosely
based the design on the five Olympic rings, with consideration to how
the games similarly bring athletes together. But in our current year,
with the threat of the coronavirus, artists and athletes alike must
remain isolated, huddled safely in our familiar groups until the threat
has passed, serving our common purposes in new ways."

SYMBIOSIS: The Art of Living Together
by Nicole Meyer-Foresman

Coexisting. Unified. Peaceful. Nature gets it."

Unity of Glass
by Dianne Miller
Fused Glass
$110, including frame
"In this Glass Wave, each piece of hand-cut and crushed glass is dependent on the adjacent pieces. As individual pieces of glass, there is no cohesion. Without compatibility and willingness to work together, the glass structure becomes unstable and divisive. Working together, the glass pieces support each other, demonstrate unity, strength, and togetherness."

Essence of Internal Unity
by Ruth Miller
Acrylic on Canvas Board

"This painting is a sample of what I believe internal peace feels like....bright, multi patterned, and easy on the eye. Underneath the surface lies a strong determination and motivation to keep the peace."

Tree of Unity
by Laura Wright
Acrylic on stretched canvas, 24"x30"
$185.00
"The Tree of Unity represents a single family and the diversity contained within such a small unit. One family branching out into the community and spreading the love of unity.
Represented from left to right:
Blue represents the Law Enforcement and First Responders
Black represents Black Lives
Green represents Military'
Rainbow represents the Gay Community
White, pink, an blue represents the Transgender
Those are just the visible roots and branches. There are more wonderful people who are represented in spirit, as you just cannot see their roots and branches from this side of the tree. This tree represents the diversity of one family. That one family has planted roots and branched out into the community, accepting and spreading love. The mission is to achieve UNITY in our community and beyond."
